There are very few workouts known better for their total body intensity than boxing. At RUMI MAKI, we combine the highest levels of knowledge of this intense sport with the best practices in fitness science to provide workouts designed to produce the results you want.
We offer four different levels of boxing training at RUMI MAKI, beginning with a kids’ class that offers an introduction to boxing movements and high-energy training activities designed to develop their physical aptitudes in areas such as reaction, flexibility, coordination, and speed.
For adults, we offer a beginning boxing class that combines basic technical instruction focusing on coordination with fun and challenging ways to burn calories and build muscle.
The advanced boxing class we offer provides all of the benefits of the beginning but pushes the physical limits for people who are interested in pursuing boxing as a serious athletic endeavor or want to prepare for the physical challenge of sparring.
Finally, we are fully prepared to offer elite athlete training for students who are interested in serious amateur competition or pursuing a career in professional boxing. RUMI MAKI is proud to be the home of two Chicago Golden Gloves amateur champions.
Youth Boxing class teaches basic boxing skills and techniques such as; stance, guard, movement, jab, cross, hook. It increases strength and improves endurance. Youth Boxing class will include cardio calisthenics, shadow boxing, bag work, partner drills, pad work and core strengthening exercises. These skills will give kids self-defense tools as well as self-confidence while keeping them physically fit
Cardio kickboxing -- a combination of aerobics, boxing, and martial arts -- is one of the most popular fitness trends to hit gymnasiums in recent years. These workouts, which are inspired by martial arts, have motivated many people to start a fitness program.
This intense, total-body workout can improve strength, aerobic fitness, flexibility, coordination, and balance.
Boot Camp training often commences with dynamic stretching and running, followed by a wide variety of interval training, including lifting weights/objects, pulling rubber
straps, pushups/situps, plyometrics, and various types of intense explosive routines. Many other exercises using weights and/or body weight, similar to CrossFit routines, are used to lose body fat, increase cardiovascular efficiency, increase strength, and help people get into a routine of regular exercise.
TAE KWON DO
Taekwondo is currently the most popular martial art in Korea, and ranks among America’s and the world’s most popular martial art. The word Taekwondo itself is made up of three Chinese/Korean words: Tae, meaning to kick; Kwon, meaning fist or hand; and Do, which means “the way.” Literally, it can be thought of as “ The Way of the Hand and Foot.” Taekwondo provides several physical and mental benefits, especially, Conditioning, Self-Defense and Self-Confidence. Kids who practice Taekwondo will certainly improve their basic motor skills, listening, balance, and focus, resulting in better grades, focus, self-respect, confidence boost, higher self- esteem, and discipline. Adults will improve their self-defense, self-respect, confidence boost and weight-loss through Taekwondo.
